Local driveshaft shop?

Anyone have any recommendations for a good driveshaft shop in Dallas, preferably in the Richardson/Plano area? I have a dying u-joint and Lexus in their infinite wisdom decided that non-serviceable staked in u-joints were a good idea…

Drive Train of Mesquite was the last drive shaft shop I’ve dealt with. This was 6-7 years ago. They were quick & reasonable priced.

Their wisdom is for you to buy the whole driveshaft from them.

My least favorite form of wisdom…

I can get a 1 piece aluminum one for less than the meh factory replacement.

Or carbon fiber! Crazy how much they want for OEM

I cant say that ive priced a carbon driveshaft, but if i can get my hands on one for less than 650 bucks than its cheaper than an oem replacement. That being said, they discontinued the part, so it looks like a carbon one is cheaper anyways.

Have you actually shopped around for replacement u-joints?
The Honda boys bitched til someone started selling kits just for this…

Maybe not for the Lexus crowd, though

PS: I can’t find the driveshaft shop reference I have on hand, and have never used…which I guess means it’s less on-hand than I thought. I could have sworn we have (had?) a member who owned a shop…

I’ve dug around a bit, but haven’t had much luck finding one.

Found at least 1 allegation that Lexus’ can be done, too…

I know it’s the internet, so…

EDIT: Found this from Rockford Driveline, too…

I talked to a transmission shop around me that said the’d look at it and if they could replace it they will. I’d really like to get rid of the floppy center support bearing though, so i may still go with a one piece shaft. im gonna talk to the guy at the shop about it first and see what his opinion is on it.
