Listen to this song. What do you think about it?
A pleasant enough Spanish pop song and a cute idea to send out a morse code rhythm after “escuche esta mensaje hermano” (listen to this message brother).
I googled the names that are associated with this song and it turns out this song was part of the battle between the left and the right in Colombia (http://www.theverge.com/2015/1/7/7483235/the-code-colombian-army-morsecode-hostages)
Are you trying to promote an idea?
I was conducting an experiment. I wanted to see if and how easily a group of people who know Morse Code would pick up on the message in this song. Yes, I got the link from “The Verge” article. I was going to post that today or tomorrow, if I thought of it.
This song is different from many songs in that lyrics are understandable. I don’t know Morse code well enough to have made sense of the message in the song and I doubt that many people outside of the Ham radio community would have been able to decode the message. I suspect this is also true for Colombian society.
It is my understanding that Morse code is declining in usage, it does not seem to be a good way to send a message to the general public.
It might be different for Ham operators, maybe your experiment will yield some information about that.
