Lichtenburg figures on steel?

I’ve seen people spray salt water on wood and hook two electrodes up to each end of the board to get those cool lightning looking burns on the wood.

I’ve also accidentally put a pop tart in the microwave with the foil on and seen them created on the foil.

Is there any way to get them to appear on sheet steel? other than putting it in a giant microwave?

Maybe do it on wood the use acid paste on the wood to etch the steel? Or ink and stamp it? I can’t think of any safe way to mark steel like that.

Fractal burns burn along the path of least resistance. Wood and really thin aluminum burn easily and especially with wood has paths through the (wet)grain that allow the electricity to pass through. Steel itself is too conductive and requires a lot of energy to get a burn and at that rate jumping to you might be that path of least resistance.

FYI baking soda works better than salt.

K. well I guess I’ll have to MAKE a giant microwave to put it in.
