Learn to create your own breakout boards

I have submitted a class for November 16th, 6:30p - 9:30p where we will learn to create a breakout board for a surface mount component. The class will also cover the process to get the boards manufactured. We will cover all of the skill needed to create a new part such as the creating the schematic symbol and footprint for the parts. Create the pcb with breakouts from a surface mount package to a DIP format suitable for use with prototyping breadboards, and show how to get a pcb manufactured in about 2 weeks and for less then $10

The same skills learned here can then be used to produce more complicated pcb’s for entire designs.

We will be using KiCAD 4.0.4, which can be installed on Windows, MAC, and most flavors of Linux. It is open source and completely non-propriety (unlike most PCB design packages).
All attendees MUST come with a working laptop with KiCAD 4.0.4 installed

@Digital_Media_Team Is there anyway I can arrange for this class to be videod? I would like to add the video to the class slides, notes, and other materials on the wiki.

Reach out to Draco, the new DigitalMedia chair.

He will be holding a committee meeting this weekend.

I hope the video happens, because I’m interested by this class but have a conflict.

Was someone able to video the class?

No video. I tried a screen capture and it didn’t work.

Oh … That’s disappointing to hear. I was hoping the class would be recorded.
