This morning (Wednesday) there was a note on the laser that said “Auto Focus Broken”.
First of all, (but probably unrelated) the plunger is very loose and needs to be tightened.
I did manually depress and release the plunger to make sure that it was not stuck.
The Z motion of the table was in short steps rather than continuous.
When the auto focus button was hit, the table did not go up at all, just went down (quickly) a short distance.
I have a feeling that this is probably due to a keypad setting, since the z motion is other than what it normally is.
There was also an error message that made me think that the CPU was confused about more than one window being open, so it is possible that a hard reboot would clear the issue.
Since there are others better able to solve this than me, I did not pursue any further.
