Large Format Printer Canvas Cutting

I was reading through the user manual for the Epson 7880 and noticed that it states that you should not use the built in cutter to cut canvas from the roll. It tells you to do it using the Manual Media Cutting System add-on/upgrade. It implies that you should otherwise do it by hand. I did more research online and find people confirming that using the built in cutter on canvas is strongly frowned upon because it’s not strong enough to be put through that stress. This conflicts with the “always use the built in cutter for rolls” doctrine we currently have. What is our procedure for cutting canvas from the roll?

Cutters used on paper shouldn’t be used on fabrics because papers dull the scissors. It’s not that you CAN’T…just that it’s likely you’ll get a very raggedy edge on your canvas. Have a pair of really sharp fabric shears with you. I’d say"lets keep them in the room for all of us" but someone will be THAT guy and use them on paper thus ruining the purpose
