Saturdays are Lab Build Days until we’re setup for efficient class presentations, projects, and equipment. If you think you might be biocurios, have an inner scientist lurking within you, or just like building and improving DMS, then these days are a great place to come out and meet your fellow Science Makers!
Some tasks on the to-do include:
- Our activated carbon filter installed on top of hood (when it arrives)
- Milli-Q water system installed
- Sterile area built (if the currently running air filter experiment goes well)
- Graphic designs explaining our projects and equipment
- Warning signs explaining what not to do with our eqipment
- Holders for various odds and ends (lab goggles, glove boxes) made from laser cut acrylic pieces
- Work stations set up for our processes and projects
- Cabinets hung on dry wall
- Remaining pieces of equipment to be shopped around for and purchased
This Saturday too we’ll be running the BIG gel electrophoresis tray and showing how professional research Scientists separate their DNA!
