Knurling question

Is it possible to hold one of our knurling tools in something other than the lathe? I’d like to have a cross-hatch pattern on a flat piece of 6061. I thought if I could put a bunch of pressure on the knurling wheel against a flat plate and translate along an axis I might get the impression into the aluminum.

Other suggestions welcomed.

have you looked as to whether the rolling mill in Jewelry will do what you need?

I hadn’t thought about that. That’s worth investigating.

You know the sherline has the scissor style knurling tool. That might be a possibility, the tool pressure won’t be as much.
