King of Random Grant Thompson Died in a Paragliding Accident

It is sad to be reminded that we are not indestructible during some of our most capable years of life. Grant Thompson I’m sure is a name known through out our community. He was among the first successful DIY Projects and Experiment youtube channels on the internet. I’ve seen many of his projects as classes and activities around DMS over the years.

I pray for his family to have the strength to get through this.

My cousin Nick passed this week as well from a fall off a 8 ft ladder, just a few weeks after his mother my aunt Mary passed away. Life comes with only the promise that it is finite. We are not indestructible, though we may feel as we are. It can be something big or something small that removes us from this world. So cherish the time we have and the people we share it with.

My brother lost his wife 8 years ago, That was an eye opener for me. She collapsed & died from a heart attack in the middle of the night. She was only 29, Had 3 kids, which the youngest was not even 1. Subsequently she was my wife’s best friend, just as hard on my wife as it was my brother, nieces & nephew.

I still have not made my last will & testament, & still need to.

Life is a very fragile thing. You need to learn to cherish it. None of us are getting out alive. Enjoy your relationships with other people, in the end, it is them that remember you & how you were.

I’m sorry to hear about your cousin & aunt @Nick

I, too, wish to express my condolences, Nick and Tim. We lost my wife’s mom last year and it is still fresh on our mind. Even though she was 87, and lived a fruitful life, she is still greatly missed.

I’ve looked at my own mortality and decided 1) to get my will up to date, 2) retire when I’m still able to travel extensively and 3) connect with all my friends and relatives in a real and satisfying way. More importantly, I’ve decided to live every day as if it is my last.

Life is short and you only get one go-round so make the best of it. Make every day your best.

Thank you for posting this Nick. Life is a beautiful fragile thing but meant to be lived to the fullest in my opinion. I’ve crossed a lot of things off my list of want to do before I’m done and this reminds me to get to the next adventure before my time is up.

I’m thankful for the life of this man who showed so many people the maker way. RIP

My condolences to your family as you remember your loved ones.
