K40 Laser to a good home

Hello folks,

former member here. I’m upgrading from my K40 machine to an OMTech machine that arrives this week.

I would life my K40 to go to a good home, to go to someone that can invest time into making the machine shine.

It’s been upgraded over the years. newer tube, air assist, new water pump etc and a Cohesion3D controller. This is perfect for a home that can put some time into it.

Also perfect to tinker with if any of you have time over Christmas!

Let me know if you are interested.
Yo ho ho.

There’s 3 of you now asking!
Lets see if we can set some expectations

  • Machine will be available on Thursday.
  • It’s functional, cutting 3mm Baltic Burch, Acrylic and even things like foamboard and craft foam nicely. It’s currently etching some slate coasters.
  • The mirrors have just been realigned, but the machine could do with some mechanical TLC.
  • I’ve only used the Cohesion3d controller with some software called LaserWeb. It’s compatible up to version 4.0.998 - i couldn’t get compatibility any further.
  • You’ll need your own PC to work it. I can share my profile with you if you download the same software.
-You’ll need your own bucket for water. I’ll throw in an air pump and a water pump.
  • This is not a glowforge. with a change in electronics to a ruida controller or something, it could approach one. It also doesn’t cost $5K!

The ideal owner is someone with some laser experience, some G-Code experience and are comfortable mashing the files to work with the clunky laserweb!

The machine is available Thursday.

Cheers

Dafydd.

@malcolmputer is being funny bc we’re the same household. We both have experience with G-code and lasers and can pick up Thursday if we’re the ones who can have it.

Would you be interested in a trade? I have an Ender pro 3d printer and a very small very limited cnc router/mill both are new in the box. May also consider trading a 36" plotter/cutter, it is in the box, but appears to be used.

Ian picked up the unit today. I do hope it’s on it’s way to a good home!
Here are some of the firmware files. I’ll see if I can get the laserweb files too.
