Hello there, i was wondering if i could join the full MIG and TIG welding classes if i brought in the starting fees, or if i would need to wait to join another time? Also same for cnc plasma cutter? Could i at least watch, if not available to use? Thank you very much for your responses.
I can’t speak for @LeeCJones about the welding. But in my PlasmaCam class there may be no shows.
Ok hopefully ill be able to get a last mibute in your plascam, i appreciate your response!
Would it be possible to set up a little ad hoc PlasmaCam class for a few people who want to get it out of the way earlier than waiting for the next scheduled class? I know of at least two other people (three if you count @urjnlegend ) who’d like to take it.
Personally, I’m MUCH more likely to offer ad hoc classes to folks that I know are giving back to the makerspace in other ways (primarily teaching classes of their own, chairing departments or SIGs). It’s also an issue that we have set up funding for committees to primarily be through the funds distributed via classes on the calendar.
Out of curiosity, who decides the frequency of class offerings? Committees? Approved Instructors?
Generally the members who volunteer their time and effort to teach the classes…
Just added a Plasmacam class for the 28th. Should show up on the calendar in 72 hours.
Thanks! I’m one of the 3 that @David was mentioning and I’m anxious to get going on some plasma table projects.
I have some previous work experience with CNC programming and if possible I’d like to teach a class once I become familiar with DMS specific machinery. What is the protocol on this? Obviously the first step is to take this class but what about after that? TIA.
We go through the class at first. Everyone that takes the class tests out at the end of the class. Then if you want to teach I would suggest doing a sit in for another class. Just so you are able to pay more attention on how things are done. I need to put another class on the calendar
