Japanese cedar shavings

Milling all four sides of nine 62"x8" x8" Japanese cedar beams. This picture is just the beginning of the task. Shavings/sawdust will be feeding the dumpster unless someone wants to come get it in the Six Flags area of Arlington.

What does someone do with wood shavings :eyes:

Pet habitats, among other things.

I’ve seen someone pack them in a mold, fill with epoxy resin then turn different items on a wood lathe as well.

AKA “turning expensive wood into even more expensive wood!”

You could make sachets to put with woolen items to deter moths (assuming it’s an aromatic cedar).

@coloneldan - did you get the wood chips/shavings/dust you were seeking?

I didn’t but cedar is not ideal for composting as I is resistant to decay.

I can come by Friday and take it out in bags. I need about 8-10 (or more?)
