I’m wanting to cut a 8mm steel rod on the horizontal band saw. On the tools wiki page the class required section is empty as shown below. This is the case for many of the tools in the metal shop. I want to make sure I am allowed to use this before I start working on it.
No training is required to use the horizontal band saw; however, if your not comfortable with how to use it you would be well served to ask someone to walk you through how to use it.

Thank you. I will ask around to have someone show me the saw.
Not hardened I hope. Things that might be hardened should be checked with a file and make sure the file cuts the metal. If not, the material should be cut with a cut off wheel.

I don’t believe it’s hardened, but I will verify with a file as you’ve suggested.
