Please don’t start microwaving and walk off… our microwave is second (or 3rd) hand has some issues.
One of our members burned his dinner and stunk up the building tonight.

Maybe we need a newer one?
You know Stan maybe you need to go and get your memory issues looked at!
I mean if we need a new microwave they’re like, $5 at the Salvation Army…I’ve never used the one at the space before. Is it really that janky?
The microwave itself is fine, not sure of wattage, I’d guess 1200 because it cooks faster than my 1000 watt at home.
If you overcook and burn something, it’s not the MW fault. If you haven;t used it before you need to watch it the first several times so you know how it cooks compared to what you are used to.
According to the report, the microwave decided to cook the item again for the original time (3mins) instrad of dinging and stopping. This happened while the cook was in the workshop not watching the microwave
Moral of the story: 3 minutes of your life is not a high cost to make sure you don’t create a mess, bad smells, a fire, or destroy the microwave. Attend the machine while your food cooks, please.
Yep, I hear it ended up cooking for 9-12 minutes instead.
Yeah that’s what happened
I’ll be looking for their upcoming paper “Microwave Bombardment of Kraft Mac & Cheese Results Negative for Nuclear Fusion Ignition”
A tad bit over 17 minutes. The amount of yellow smoke that it produced is simply amazing.
In the future, if anyone ever has something smoldering, take it out the front door as quick as possible and don’t let it linger in the trash first.
When I first clicked this thread I thought it was for some fancy smancy microwave communication. Wasn’t expecting burned food to be it. I would expect to watch any equipment while running, including a microwave. FYI warming a blanket or towel in a microwave doesn’t work so well, had a customers nurse do that.
All and all it was handled well no smoke detector going off or a major fire. So good job guys
How hard would it be to fix the microwave?
At home, I generally leave the microwave running for a specified time and let it alert me when it is done because I know how long my food item needs to cook. If there’s any question to any set length for cooking, I’d microwave for a minimum amount, and then, if it needs more, add time and monitor as needed.
What you’re speaking of is not a class in remedial microwaving, it’s a class in handling wonky microwave ovens.
