Is there a duplicator for the wood lathes?

Like the subject asks, is there a duplicator for the lathes? I’m interested in turning some table legs but I’m new to using a lathe and want to make sure they are the same.

There isn’t a duplicator at this time, BUT the Powermatic has a thningamabob on it that is purpose-designed for duplicating (by hand/eye):

You can see the explanation of its use and demo at around the 1:48 time mark

Thanks… though I don’t see a demo of it.

Yes, lathe templates are possible. You can find more about it on YouTube. You basically make a negative of the profile you’re looking for and then run the cutter alongside it.

Yeah…demo was poor word choice on my part. Maybe “explanation + ‘look, I have it set up’” might have been better (although more wordy). The accessory is called a “comparator”. A little appropriate googling should yield some better video examples, I bet.

We do not have a duplicator.

Typical, people make a paper/posterboard profile of one leg.
Note the heights and depths.
Use the template to mark the locations on your spindle.
Turn to the highs and lows, using calipers and a parting tool.
Turn the transitions, using the paper template to help with the slope or curves if needed.

That will get you very close. Probably close enough no one will ever notice any deviation.
