Is Dry Erase board ok for use with the lasers?

Dry erase board is a very thin layer of melamine on MDF. Melamine is listed as approved on the Thunder Laser and Epilog sites. I have cut a few pieces with good results and a wisp of smoke equivalent to cutting MDF. I have found several Internet vendors and services offering laser cut dry erase products but no negative comments about its usage.

Please help review this product and list it as acceptable if it is OK. I found a couple of very old Talk comments about lasering it but I’m moving to be totally safe with the lasers.

@dmsfr4nklin - Thank you for your generous offers on another thread! Does your company have a position on dry erase board?

It’s cut-able. I would recommend masking it, and cutting face-down. Takes slightly more power than MDF.

MDF is approved. Melamine is approved. It’s always a good idea to review any MSDS and ‘ingredients’ sheet before cutting, so let that also be a guide when in doubt. You should be fine to ‘back away from the gate and begin taxiing to the runway’.
