At the end of the day, some materials are not just banned solely because of their potential fumes. Our ventilation system does occasionally has issues and doesn’t vent properly.
We also have a huge issue with people using materials that make a mess or melt too quickly and easily and then don’t clean up after themselves and cause problems.
Generally regular members are not allowed or trained (currently) to clean lenses/ mirrors (which they should not without specific sign off by the CURRENT chair) - we have banned a couple of rubber types because of this fact… Some just smoke too much for a shared machine like this to easily be cleaned.
Some exceptions are made in demand by asking the chair, but it does depend on the use case and material still.
