My son dropped and broke the black glass on his iPhone 12 Pro… calling around to see what this would cost to fix the phone… I’ve gotten estimates all over the place… some would replace the Frame and insides of the phone and move the camera over… others would still replace the frame and the camera lens…
Does anyone have an idea where I can get the parts and DYI the repair?
Apple are notorious assholes when it comes to repair. Louis Rossmann has thoroughly documented a lot of this on his YouTube channel. I think apple now offers a rental program for self service tools at 49 dollars…but you have to put down a 1000+ dollar deposit.
Does the phone otherwise work fine or is the camera lens also broken? If it’s just mostly cosmetic, I’d throw on a case and call it a day. I do think ifixit sells the back glass for about 40 bucks and the rear camera for 100, so I’d look up some videos on replacing them and see if it’s something you’re comfortable doing.
