I’m wondering how many people would be interested in an introductory seminar on numismatics.
Topics covered would include the history of coinage ; terminology ; the uses of coins, medals, jetons, tokens, & the like ; the process of manufacture of coins ; coins in economic context ; and counterfeiting. (Suggestions for material to be covered are invited.)
I’m thinking this could be one three-hour session on a Saturday afternoon, or something.
This is a great hobby to get kids involved with.
You should cover collecting pocket change finds: wheats and nickles are great starting places. Don’t forget covering how to find proof coins in change. I have 3 of them that were pocket change finds over the past few years.
Also, it’s easier to find old buffalo nickles in change now that they have the newer versions. 
I’d suggest a fuller title,
“Introduction to Numismatics: Stories about the money we use every day.”
After talking to you a few times about this, the bits that always caught my attention where questions of legality, the large mistakes and the innovations. I think that you have enough stories that you could do a couple small 1 hour classes and keep them about 50% entertaining and 50% educational. For me this is a class I would love to attend, some of my favorite lectures start in stories and ends in lessons. Also, with the classes being an hour, you can tap into the members that may be cautious of a long class.
Also we could build a coin pusher game to demonstrate the physical properties of popular coinage.

I would like to attend as time permits, and could provide examples of many US coinage series for show.
