Interest gauge: cosplay/costumed identity show feb-March

I think the interests level might be on point with this. Considering a cosplay / costume inspired artshow for February and March.

This theme can be interpreted as you would like: anything from accessories for the display shelf to full on outfits (they would hang on the wall or you would need to make a dress form - Google duct tape dress form for shortcuts). The interpretation could be taken to the idea of identity/concealed identity/play identity/alternate identity and works could come from that concept as well.

Interest in participating? Please say anything from yes to hell yes
Interested in looking at it - that’s awesome I really don’t need to hear from you.

Possible titles of the show:
Fantastical forms
My secret identity
Costumed creations
And a few others we wrote down but are in the living room and I type this from my warm bed and I don’t want to get up.

Please tag people who would be interested. The Star Wars group being one

I talked it over with David the Star Wars guy and I think we are going to lock-in the earlier date. I’m sorry I know it can never be a good date for everyone. It need not be a full costume it can be pieces/parts/anything involving the concept of identity.

I know last month (? I think) someone hosted a cosplay making session…I had to be out of town and wanted to go so bad!!! Anyone thinking of doing it again? My son and I want to get into it together!!

In January I want to find out who’s interested in costuming/props for a variety of areas:
*Punk: Steam, Diesel, Cyber

  • Rennfaire
  • SCA
  • Re-Enactment
  • CosPlay in it’s various forms (not up on all the subset descriptors)
  • Whatever

Making these items can and will cross various disciplines within the MakerSpace. The hope is to get instructors to help us learn how to fabricate and create the various articles. With the holidays didn’t want to get it started.

I am not sure who taught that.

You may be thinking of the Mandalorian/ Stars Wars group. They had their* Sintra and Star Wars Costuming Workshop* on November 27th.

Our “New” leather sewing machine arrived last night. Downloaded the manual, reading it and will try to test the machine out today. It’s not as large as I thought in terms of size … but very definitely made of cast iron and not plastic.

Exciting times are ahead!

I wouldn’t be comfortable leaving my costume work at the space.

Maybe have workshops that culminate in a “Fashion Show(s)” that has each person describe the various techniques and materials they used.

I would be interested in the classes for props. I need to work on a steampunk outfit
