I would be interested

I happen to have some wood that could make a good bandsaw box. I’m in!

I’d love to do this
Sounds like a great idea
Anytime will work.

I have never made one of these but they look like fun. I would suggest buying a blade specifically for this class. These would be really hard to accomplish if you showed up and the blades were dull. I think PS wood makes a blade that is very popular with craftsmen who create a lot of these. May be worth giving them a call.

Thanks, matt - will do. Also talked to John Gorman who had been waiting to
teach the class until we get an oscillating drum sander…may be more than
one way to accomplish, though…

I’m interested, but I need to take the intro class first.

Count me in! I’m fascinated by bandsaw boxes.

Just finishing up a bandsaw jewelry box (my first bandsaw box and also my first box!) and I would not recommend bandsawing 6+ inches of harder woods unless you’re using the 3/4" blade I bought/installed on the large bandsaw. The kerf is a mile wide but it cuts reasonably well. If you’re looking to do thick stock with thin kerfs and tight curves you’ve a tough road ahead.

I would be interested in a bandsaw box class too!

Thanks, Don. Did you buy a blade for the 12" delta?

Yep, bought a 105" circumference 1/8" width ‘Regular’ Tooth blade and installed it on the smaller Delta on Friday. As I mentioned in the other thread, I have no idea how long it will last, but it did a good job for the first 3-5 minutes. This was also before I noticed the lower thrust bearing issues so perhaps with it fixed (or waay out of the way) it might have lasted even longer.

It might even be no problem right now as long as you’re not doing hard maple or some other stock that’s 6+ inches thick and 1500+ hardness.

Bandsaw boxes are fun projects.

A spindle sander really helps. At home, I use a drill press sander set. Not as great, but ok for one off projects.

@wandrson and Chuck have been working on rebuilding our spindle Sander. Just this weekend Chuck was testing 3d printed part to see if they were good enough for Walter to mill

What part is needed for the oscillating spindle sander?
