Interest chck for Makers Who Market

I would like to see if we have interest in a SIG for Maker Who
Market,

Many of us make things and our houses can only hos so mush
and we have often gifted our friends and family with a lot of our
work. Selling one s work can be very satisfying, it tell you that
other value your skills and design, and you get some money
to help you support you habit. The problem for many is how
to do it. or how to start or even the hardest how to charge, and
some may not know if they want to sell, having facts woudl help

This would be not be just for those that are working
artist /artisans but also for those that sell some things
to help pay for their habits and for those that might make
a few things to sell. This is not just for folks that mainly
work my hand, I want to get some of the folks that use
our tech involved. T the 10x10 shows I have seen some
realty neat work from the tech areas like laser and 3 C and
such, It is also art.

Things to be included can be
Using on line sites like Etsy (photographing, key words, and such)
Exploring in person markets like farmers markets, craft show, art show,
SF and anime conventions, other conventions and shows
Even some of us putting together an off sit show

What it takes to do a show, display and such even to helping build the
displays

Interested - it would be nice to have a club with a focus on education and helping people get started that everyone is able to join.

We’ve recently had Esty classes at the Space and Michelle Gruben @Michelle had a class or displaying (even wrote a book, I bought a copy: Craft Fair Success: Starting and Growing Your Handmade Business This is not a paid endorsement, just noting something one of our own has created).

There have been several classes on IP, etc.

I suggest going back through the calendar to find resources to help get the group going. be nice if they could be organized into series.

I have been to Etsy classes and to the other one, Some good info
but having folks to brainstorm with would be great

Since I started making jewelry when I was in grade school, I
have very poor skill and knowing what the average guy
might type inot an Etsy search for jewelry, I am sure the
dame is true of other arts.crafts, If someone is looking for
a hand turned wooden pen, What terms would they use?
I would likely know more about types of wood and such,

And on displaying, the type of show makes a difference,
a display for a farmer s market would be very different.
When you have an hour or so for set up, you need
something different than why you have 5 hours. And I
have spent longer that that way too often!

I am in groups on FB for these, but I would love to
be able to talk about things in person and to help
other not make mistakes I made, like buying a colored
E Z up type canopy. Green light makes women look ill
and no jewelry will look good on them!

Noted and downloaded to my kindle. Kind of wish there was an audio book version but this will do.

There is of sorts … take of class when offered! It’s nice book and helpful.

I’ve done many shows/festivals in the past. Let me know how I can help.
