Intel Joule, Curie, Edison - Anyone Played With?

Has anyone seen/messed with these, I stumbled over them while I was looking for components.

The Joule is very powerful relatively speaking and runs x86 but it’s also very expensive. The Joule is something like $350. It’s faster than a Raspberry Pi 3 but it’s not $350 faster in my opinion.

The Edison is more along the lines of the Raspberry Pi. It’s around $50 which is fair for what it’s doing.

The Curie is the most interesting to me. It’s a single chip with a microcontroller with an IMU integrated. It’s on par with other low cost microcontroller offerings like ATmega, ARM, MSP430, etc.

I haven’t used any of them but have looked into them a few times. I don’t really have a need for the performance of the Joule that would justify that price, the Edison doesn’t seem to have any benefits over a Raspberry Pi which costs less and has a much more active ecosystem, I suppose I’d get the Curie to try if I needed an IMU.

Very cool thanks, I was reading along excitedly until I saw the price on this one. I will look at the Curie, that does sound really cool. I guess it was just a matter of time before Intel tried to grab a piece of the market.

Edison has an Intel core (Atom) so software porting is “easier” but it doesn’t have the I/O ports and expandability that the RasPi has.

I have one here and am wondering what I’m actually going to do with it.

If you are working with edision for a project then I would like to help. I program in assemble c++ and c.
