Instead of a new Plasma Cutter a 700w Fiber Laser is on sale!

I know we have had discussions on replacing/upgrading the plasma cutter. We may want to Go LAZAR! They are on SALE!

Heck yah!!! They’re on sale too!

Seriously, they are nice. I’ve had the opportunity to use one a few times recently and the cuts are clean and sharp. Big upgrade to plasma cutting. More precision is possible. Especillay around cutting small bolt holes, etc.

58k is in the wheel house? No?

Free Two in shop training… not sure exactly what that means. Maybe Training for 2 people? Or free 2 day training. Lol

Wonder if they would do training in 3 slots per day with 20 people attending?

Challenge is it needs Nitrogen & Oxygen for cutting depending on the metal.

So… compressed air?

or does it have to be more precise than that?

Compressed air would probably suffice for the Nitrogen. Cannot find the list I saw for what gas was need for what metal.

Mostly O2 for carbon steel. N2 for stainless.

Ah. Got it. That makes more sense. I was misreading it as “nitrogen AND oxygen” as opposed to “nitrogen in some use cases and oxygen in others, so a bottle of each and a way to swap them out so we won’t screw it up”.

Let’s not forget the fact that we would be using O2. Lots of folks don’t realize that things tend to catch fire a lot easier with pure oxygen.

I think both the plasma cutter and the laser would have issue with staring directly at the light from them.

It is even more fun when you soak items in liquid oxygen then try to light them. I’ve heard baby diapers are particularly interesting.

Lemme just spray some dubyadeefordee on them regulator threads so’s there easier to pull apart…

Lol. It’s all fine & dandy until you open the valve. It amazing seeing some things on regulators. I’ve seen people use teflon tape & pipe dope. If I see someone do that, I will yell at them.

Yeah, I hate finding teflon tape on things like the regular to bottle fittings or on flare fittings. I see a lot of CO2 tanks that people try to use teflon tape to seal the connection on, instead of spending $2 on a package of sealing washers, highly annoying to clean up.

You know nothing and have seen nothing. Once you are in the O2 club you don’t speak about the O2 club
