I can slab the hollow tree. The hard part for me would be cutting the glass. I think that tracing the outline of the cut glass then using the MultiCam to cut the pocket for it to sit in would be fairly simple.
At a technical level, CNC could be used for both the routing and the glass cutting, which, frankly, would make perfect sense in that once you have your tolerances.
Here’s an interesting video (to me) of cutting thick glass by hand, just to show that it can be done.

And, of course, if you can do with CNC, you could do it by hand, and vice versa. I am curious how Herr Klassen actually does it. I suspect paper sketching and templating and then routing and glasswork by hand following the templates. That’s based on perusal of his website, though, which is hardly a reliable source of process…
My glass vendor (not far from the DMS) has a large glass CNC glass cutter (made in house) - they use vacuum cups to hold the glass in the water spray.
I found a good model for making a Glass cutter for a CNC. I think I have most of the material I need to try making one next week

It may work to use CNC (e.g. Multicam Router) for creating a form (e.g. MDF) then use the form to cut the glass by hand.
I had though of that. One pattern to cut a template for the glass, then a slightly enlarged pattern for route out the wood.
Still going to build the Glass Cutting bit though, saw some really cool cuts with it…
