Inclement Weather Plans at DMS

If you’ve been following the news recently, we’re expecting some winter weather this weekend.

With that said, I wanted to let folks know some changes that will happen if we receive inclement weather.

The landlord will take care of snow removal of the entrances, the driving lanes, and the sidewalks leading up to the space.

We will be responsible for removing the snow near the dock areas, the emergency exits, and the back entrances.

Keeping that in mind, I will be putting ice melt near the doors by Ceramics and Laser so that members who wish to utilize those entrances can treat them. When treating, use as little as needed to melt the ice and snow away.

Because the ramps will be covered in snow and ice, I will be closing the ramps to Automotive and the South warehouse on Friday evening when the snow starts. Do not use or attempt to use these ramps when it’s icy out.

I did spend some time today testing the heating functions at the space and all RTU’s that have heating capabilities are running without issue. If you are at the space when it starts to snow, please take care in getting home. If you feel like you cannot safely make it home, please reach out to me if you’re planning on spending the evening at the space: you can message me on here, on Discord, or by sending me an email at ianwilson@dallasmakerspace (dot) org.

If the space loses power, please make sure that you’ve turned off all torches, removed all propane, and turned off the equipment that you were using before the power comes back on.

Here’s hoping we all come out of this winter weather relatively unscathed.

As always, if you have any questions, please reach out and I’ll be more than happy to get you answers!
