Impulse Sealers

Does anyone have experience with a small impulse sealer? I have started using a foodsaver at home, but I’d prefer to be able to break off small portions without opening the whole bag. Basically I want to seal the bags, then separate the portions, then seal again between the portions. You cannot fold it over and insert the bags into the sealer, plus you have the have a 2" lip to feed into the machine.

The the reviews on amazon for the ones that are under $100 claim fire hazards and poor manufacturing.

Uline has some sealer like this. I use them around the office for different jobs. They don’t pull a vacuum but might do the trick for your second or third seal. One warning, food and liquid may hamper your ability to get a perfect seal.

I’ve noticed this one on Uline before. It looks like same one that’s noted as having electrical issues on Amazon at $30. I wonder if they are all the same and if the Uline mark-up stands for better quality…

I have one! It certainly has the capability for what you’re describing,
just don’t use the cutter between the portions you’re dividing. Food
getting all over the machine is a sure way to end up ordering a new heat
element.

@Haley_Moore , do you have the Uline? Or a budget one from Amazon?

It is a simple machine, They are all budget built. Get whatever version you feel like buying.

I’ve been using one for some time which I got off the Free Shelf. It was made in Japan in the Sixties of the last century, & looks generally like the one in Nick’s picture. I find that the Reynolds “Perfect Portions” bags can be sealed very well with it ; it is often possible to put in (say) a chicken breast, seal that in, & have enough bag left over to do the same again, so that they can be opened separately.
