Importing SVG -->> AI = 125% of original

I made some files in Inkscape. Wanted to cut them on the Thunder. Inkscape has problems with DXF export (introduces stray lines in DXF), so the best approach I see is to import the SVG into Adobe Illustrator and save as an AI file, since Inkscape does not have a native AI Save-As option.

This works, but when imported, the size of the image expands: a 4" wide drawing in SVG format becomes 5" wide when saved as an AI and cut on the laser.

I worked around the problem by simply rescaling the image by 80% in AI before saving, but I am wondering: is there a setting I missed? Why are the images expanded by 25% when imported? Expansion seems to be =25%, not about 25%.

Ah jeez, there’s a setting in … something that allows you to lock the scaling. I ran into it when trying to pull an svg into Tinkercad. I’ll see if I can remember what I was doing a couple of weeks ago…

Edit: what I was thinking of was an Illustrator thing, not an Inkscape thing. Something about “responsive” svg files.
Here’s more info anyway…

Have Inkscape and Ai both open, do a copy/paste and you shouldn’t have the scaling issue.
