Hi I’m new here.
I was wanting an over-bed desk for my computer and after looking up pipe fittings I found it would be really easy to make, but I am unable to walk so I can’t really build anything.
My question is, ‘What can I do to get help with build ideas since I am unable to move around or do intricate things myself?’
I don’t need a charity to build a ramp for me. I need my retractable server desk with integrated cctv, environmental(?)sensors, 4-wheel drive, and solar array to convert into a bed; someday be street legal.
I don’t have any friends to get help from.
We’ve got a few differently abled folks who are DMS members, and I’d like to think that you’d be able to get help with a project by making friends up there.
If you have some skills or cash to offer in trade that may help as well. When I first started at DMS I spent ~6 hours or so helping someone weld up a gift and instead of cash for my time I asked what they could teach me. He ended up showing me and a friend how to use the wood lathe for a few hours and not laughing at my first pen.
Do you CAD? Seems like we are always looking for CAD people to either teach Fusion 360, or help CAD a part for machining.

Love the trading skills - done that several times. Great Maker spirit of things - knowledge is a great currency. I’ve yet to meet someone that didn’t have a skill I didn’t and might need someday.

No I don’t have any CAD skills. I like learning, but I don’t have a reliable way to get up and out of the house.

Nice timing. I was working on cutting parts for a laptop tray for a wheelchair today. I might be able to do a little to help you, like perhaps the CAD work.
Shoot me pics of what you found at [email protected] or text me 214.799.0299.

I’ll find a way to illustrate it and get back to you.
I found an over bed desk that was large and cheap. Thanks for the help though and I will keep this forum in mind. Although I expected people to be a lot more enthusiastic about helping, I suppose just because people build they aren’t necessarily saints.
I will continue to go at it alone…

Your criticism will serve as a tremendous incentive for people to help you in the future.
I understand many people have other things they want to do.
I kinda expected many people to offer more help than I was prepared for…
As a person who can’t get up to physically ‘do’ anything it’s anti-amazing to see people who just won’t do easy things that can make everything better.
I just think, as an example, buying a warehouse that allows residential and working together to innovate in multiple aspects of life is ‘normal.’ And a place where non-violent, vegan, asexuals can start and/or continue to build a new piece of life in this drowsy world is a simple goal.
I’m not saying join my intentional commune; I don’t have one. I’m saying c’mon!, It’s free to help and cheap to build whatever you want! What is stopping people from being free?

As a violent, meat-eating pervert who wants to kill things in this hyperalert world, I’ll disagree.

probably better to have an obviously stark divide, only if necessary…
This is by far, the most confusing thread I have ever read. I’m still not certain what a “wheelchair car PC gaming plane” is.

what it is depends upon the most fundamental part
I am glad you found a solution. Let me know if you change your mind about wanting my help. Cheers.
