MOAR POWER!
So please do let me know if you’ve got a class that you’d like to see put on that calendar and I’ll do my best to get it up there.
Special thanks to @talkers for making this happen!

Why do we have another calendar?
Meetup is also spammy garbage
Its another method of advertising our classes to nonmembers, especially those new to the area. Its not intended for the purposes of RSVP or member management.
A lot of people use Meetup to find like minds especially after moving to an area. I used it to find other geeks when I was forced to move here many years ago.
Just as an FYI, this has been “the problem” in the past, and why it has fallen out of favor @ DMS, especially when it comes to limited seating, member only, and/or paid events/classes; folks would “attend” on Meetup, and then think their seat was reserved. Occasionally indignance was involved, to my understanding (though I never personally dealt with any of these complaints).
But hopefully, if wielded carefully, this can be leveraged for events which involve the public, for which no payment is required, and/or where seating is (virtually) unlimited.
Good point. I’d have to make sure to include a carefully worded statement to make it clear that you need to register on the DMS events calendar. I personally am mostly interested in using it for monthly event which have no seat limit and are open to the public (Fiberfrolic, monthly quilting meet-up, etc.) to attract new members.
