Pressure
Many of us are in jobs we can’t talk about.
Your comings and goings of ‘where’s this tool’ and ‘this is out of alignment’ is a catharsis to what I do all day, which I can’t talk about.
It such a relief to know we can be smart and not up to our ears in our own intelligence; be it megacorp network administration, IC chip and circuit design, politics, or law.
We aren’t all doing this, and I will be first to say many of us who do, and wish we weren’t.
This is why you need a hobby that you love. Everyone needs something they can do to take their minds off the daily BS and unwind.
Me? I love fixing things. I repair arcade game boards and when I grab a logic probe and start working on a game board all that s*** from the day job just melts away.
It cost me $46K 5 years ago August to build my workshop, but it was WELL worth it. Far cheaper than a shrink.
