Those garage condos were less than $200k just ten years ago. I seriously considered it and now kind of regret it.
This is from an email I received back in Feb 2024 when I inquired. I suspect these units have already sold:

I was outside the Roanoke facility yesterday. There is still a “spaces for sale” sign out front. I wonder what the condo fees are.
Way too expensive for what it is. For that money I could pick up a 5 acre hobby farm and put a metal building on it.
Agreed, but would it be 10 blocks from your house?
And that’s the appeal - reasonably close for socializing.
There are an increasing number of days when either traffic, or visiting Costco puts me in a mind set that when I retire, I should move to somewhere at the end of the pavement. Make socializing a bit more of a planned event where it is worth the effort.
If acreage doesn’t have power or water, the costs go up. I believe Ronald was telling me he priced a well, 70k to have it drilled outside Gainesville.
That was what the makerspace was for until the anti-clubhouse contingent got its way.
At last check socializing remains quite commonplace at DMS.
No and I do agree that close to home is very important.
I started building an RV-9 (airplane) and all experts agreed: Have your shop at home or very close to it or you’ll never get anything done.
But I wouldn’t mind “home” being said hobby farm. But it needs to be somewhere where air conditioning is merely a suggestion. I’m not buying or building anything in Texas. I need to move to Idaho or eastern Washington.
This sense is growing stronger for me after >30 years of TX summers that are both intense and prolonged.
And in some of those climates, today is the warm version of November through March, maybe April. I’ll take AC over shoveling snow.
Tradeoffs are part of life’s rich tapestry. As is a spectrum of possibilities.
