HP's Multi Jet Fusion 3D Technology

I was wondering just last night why no one offers a 3D printer based on ink jet technology. Now, HP announces it’s Multi Jet Fusion technology, which apparently consists of a bar containing thirty print heads that lay down alternating layers of powder and fuser.

Continued, because the new forum won’t allow me to post two links in a single post.

Oh, but there’s more!

HP also is releasing Sprout, a computer/projector/3D scanner:

Neat, I hope the retail price will be much lower than the other big name 3d printer companies.

Given what they charge for 2d printer conumeables, I imagine its going to be costly.

I believe the the big stratsys 3D printers are based on inkjet style heads. A known issue with this style printer is clogging, especially viscus solution. Also, the solution for a clogged head is replacement as cleaning is very difficult if not nearly impossible. But the stratsys systems are very cool and start around 200k. So I could add a request to the next board meeting??? just kidding.

Stratsys starts at around 30k if you are lucky. That’s just for a UV resin “inkjet” style and its about 12*8 inches for the print area.

Then they go up to 350k for 128 color multi plastic printers with pretty large print areas.

yeah I was talking about the color ones.
