How do I cut plate aluminum at DMS?

I need to cut a 16" x 16" x .25" 6061 aluminum plate down to just over 12" x 12". Normally I would use my table saw with a carbide blade but it would be a chore to get to it with the current state of my garage. What method would work best to get an accurate, square cut? Currently I am thinking I would rough it out with the band saw and then use the Bridgeport to mill the edges but with that size I would need to use double-stick tape to secure it which I’d rather not if there is a better way.

Thanks!

Joe

Even if the Plasmacam isn’t perfect enough to use without further machining, it would likely give you a better starting point for the Bridgeport. Our bandsaw blades are notoriously dull (that’s not a dig at the Machine Shop folks - the saws just get a lot of heavy use).

Sadly I am not certified on the PlasmaCAM. Does anyone know if there are any last minute cancellations for tonight’s class? It shows as full currently.

Thanks!

I think that will probably work for me. I’ll let you know if anything changes.

Yes. Sorry I didn’t look at this earlier. I’m at DMS now if you can still make it.
