Can I use the laser and rotary tool? Or some sort of combination of tools?
It needs to be a vector etching…
What about acid etching?
Assuming the casing is brass, you could do a ferric chloride etch.

So, I could cut something out in vinyl and then etch it … hmmm … thanks for the idea
Brass can be marked using cermark and the laser. If it’s not very tall all you need is a holding fixture. If you want it to wrap you’ll need the rotory fixture
