Just FYI Lance told me 8 of his classes he has been teaching were rejected by the honorarium group this time around and last night was his last night teaching…
That is really sad to hear, I wanted to take his classes and just hadn’t found time yet.
Nice. One down, N to go.
Maybe now that he’s been “put in his place”, all of the complainers will go after the “Etsy people”
and such that he was teaching.
Because obviously even trying to make money is evil and those trying to do so could never be “proper community members” or helpful to other members!!
He can appeal to the BOD. Just saying…
@Team_Calendar please explain why Lance’s classes were rejected.
We have three new volunteer auditors, plus the five directors are automatically auditors.
So we essentially have eight new auditors. Everybody has their own idea as to what qualifies for honorarium. The calendar system shows who rejected what class, but I am sworn to secrecy so I cannot reveal that.
I always sign my name when I reject a class. I can say it was not me.
Can they be overwritten if a majority of auditors agree it deserves honorarium?
We do not have such a system in place.
There was talk about requiring two auditors to reject a class, but that requires a software change as well as policy changes and more volunteers to guarantee that dubious things do not sneak through.
This looks like a system design just asking to be used punitively.
- Only one person can deny any class.
- It can not be revealed who denied the class out of the group.
- There was no…
Edit: there was a reason given.
Reasons are given in a message back to the submitter and I can verify a reason was given in this case.
The recourse is to appeal to the BOD.
The BOD can reverse a decision, change policy or unvolunteer an abusive auditor…
In an unrelated note does auditing have to be done physically at the space? If not I’d happily volunteer to help
Ok, I take that part back. Sorry about that.

When I was away for seven months, I continued to do auditing and calendar admin duties remotely.
@Team_Calendar please explain why Lance’s classes were rejected.
Team calendar is not the same as the Honorarium auditors, though some of us do work in both (Bill, Stan, and me).
The wiki does not have the current honorarium auditors listed.
Only appeal process currently is to take it to the BOD, which I encourage.
We had three new people added to the Honorarium Admin list recently. One of those three rejected 12 classes in the last week. If this has effected you, please contact the BoD about it.
From 5/20/19 BOD Meeting:
CONSENT AGENDA
6.1 Confirm new honorarium auditors and calendar administrators (Bill Gee)
- AS SUBMITTED:
"
Appoint the following individuals as additional honorarium auditors and calendar administrators:
Bernard Gray
Lara Rosenblith
Brian Davis

Seems like there’s some confusion on the policy @Bill mentioned. Glad this isn’t going to be a witch hunt or anything.
Sure does seem like outing the volunteers who audit is in bad form
I can imagine why people aren’t stepping up.
@Bill what happened to the secrecy the auditors were sworn to?
Glad this isn’t going to be a witch hunt or anything.
What witch hunt? It is public knowledge who gets appointed to the Honorarium list, in the BoD minutes.
If one Honorarium Auditor, who has not been named, is making the vast majority of the rejections, then it could be a problem that the BoD needs to look into. Any teacher who feels like they have been wrongly rejected has the option to appeal to the BoD.
There is precedent for the BoD removing an Honorarium Auditor for overzealousness in the past.
