Hollowing the pill box on the Tormach

@Paul_Morley were trying out what we hope will be the checkout project for the Tormach 8L. Here it is being hollowed out.
To say it was cantankerous is an understatement. 5 minutes after Paul left I got it working. I was concerned because I am teaching a class on it tomorrow. So I went and looked at my class slides and DAMN! if I didn’t have it figured out correctly last month. Anyway, hoping to roll out a members’ class next month. cheers!
Hollowing

I can’t say that I could see the cantankerous behavior in the 11 second bore clip.

I have reviewed the class slide show you have prepared. I have to remark that is a huge volume of work with great illustrations. It seems to be so much material that it needs to be two classes: the basic operations and profiles with PP conversation/ loading in G-Code files. Other than a radius or a taper, one needs to design in CAD, then CAM and post process a G-Code file and load into the Hub. Bottom line is that one needs to learn CAD/CAM if one is to get the true advantage out of the CNC machine. Also, while in CAM is a better place to discover that the tool path doesn’t work than while at machine side.

I designed a piston in Fusion360 and CAMed it there. I was able to post it in PP format, the Tormach PP being in the Fusion post library. I registered myself with Tormach and will shortly put my G-Code to the Tormach simulator.

Thanks,
Bob

it was the almost 2 hours trying to figure out how to properly drill it and get the small boring bore in that got us, not to mention that it kept wanting to reject the tool and run the wrong way. I finally got it going and once I got home and reviewed my slides I realized I had it figured it right last month. But I slept since then and it fell out of my head.

What’s the secret? I’ve tried to do that and despite the fact that I’ve clicked “resend the confirmation email” several times it never sends me the confirmation email so I can set up the account.

as always, better check your spam folder

I had the same issue.
No emails in spam folder.
I called PathPilot support and they said that this was a recurring problem and
manually added me to the system.
Best,
