Help with Quilt (House Fire)

Hello all,

I have a quilt my grandmother made for me in 1992 that was damaged when our house burned down. People keep telling me, “It’s only stuff, you can get more stuff.” However, my grandmother now has Alzheimer so she doesn’t remember who I am, and there is no way she can quilt anymore.

Is there any saving this? Can I maybe cut it down to make a smaller quilt?

Thanks in advance.

While repairing it in its entirety would likely be futile, it looks like several parts of it could be rescued and repieced into a new quilt that would include the ribbon label and such.

There are a few certified appraisers in and around the area you could talk to, as they are also knowledgeable about restoration.

I’m sure it’s not what you want to hear but what about nicely framing what you can and letting the rest go. But I would investigate the leads that Judy sent you - but also keep other options open for display.
