I designed a small piece on Solidworks and saved it as DXF file. It is only a few inches large and was designed in mm. When I import the file in PlasmaCam, it becomes the size of the table. Can anyone help?
You can scale it. If you hit the scale feature then click the base. From there you type a .33 for a 1/3 scale, .5 for 50% & hit enter.
Yah. I haven’t cracked the code on DXF either. I’m sure there is a predictable pattern for each application here but I just try scaling by either 25.5 ( mm in 1 inch) or by 1/25.5=0.03937. One of those usually works I think plasmacam expects inches and you used mm when you exported the DXF so 0.03937 is the scale factor.
Gotcha. Will try scaling and design in inches going forward. Thank you.
I had this issue when I was using f360 to design a piece for plasmacam. Even though I specified inches, f360 doesn’t export that to the dxf. It was only 51mm long and it showed up as 51" after import. I never could fix it with fusion360, and had some help in recreating it with autocad. I’m sure there’s some one that could fix it properly, but autocad was the fastest route.
Hmm. I haven’t had an issue using F360 then saving as a DXF and it being wrong.
I suspect when the project was created, my default in f360 is mm. Tim, is your default in inches?
