Help with Getting Some Tree Pieces

Hello. There wood/logs left from a blown down pear tree in Plano near Custer and GBT (about 15 mins or from DMS, in normal traffic). I brought in a few of the pieces that I could lift/handle myself, but had to leave several there I was not able to manhandle safely alone. Tom Cook (no handle here on Talk…Luddite!) was very happy and animated about the pear wood especially as it is hard to come by and the DMS art show is coming (I guess???) so I wanted to try and get the rest into the shop. Is there anyone reading this with a pick-up truck or trailer and the inclination to help? f so, please let me know…the sooner the better as I worry others in the may be interested in the wood as well. Thanks…

Is this actual pear tree wood, or bradford pear tree wood?
Just curious, because after any heavy breeze blows through DFW bradford pear wood should be available by the barge-load…
Just curious about why this one’s special.
Also, sorry to disappoint, but no truck, no trailer, no time to help just now…
But I can put this back at the top of the page.

To all that are interested in this. We really need to reign in our wood collection. Currently we have a 2 pallets of logs and a stack of white oak. We should either start using more of it or getting rid of it. I know the oak is being used but haven’t seen many people use the logs as of late. This pear wood is a nicer color as it is a kinda orange-ish color similar to the color on the inside of a papaya.

The goal is to provide people free wood to learn with but we can’t start taking over other areas. Please consider putting this on project shelves.

I think what makes this one special is the size. I saw Tom turning a piece that appeared to be nearly 12" in diameter.

It is Bradford Pear, hence-force known as Fake Pear  Still looking for any assistance, though.

Point taken regarding overstock of logs. If I bring any more in (typically would only be in case of more unique or less common varieties), I will remove or otherwise decrease stock of more pedestrian log choice taking up space by an equal amount.

Hugs…

I have a pickup truck, and live about 2 minutes away from there. I’m currently at work though, I can’t help until about 6pm. If it’s still there, I’d be willing to help after work.
