not part of any group but do have a couple of suggestions :
create a listing on

and on eventbrite and social media months in advance with regular updates. So look into the crystal ball and pick a date and stick to it.
Do we still have an active Public Relations group/committee? Seems like this stuff should fall in their domain.
Secondly consideration on how to provide access to the building on craft sale day. Signage is obviously important considering the street construction will probably still be going on (for years at this rate).

I think Public Relations is kinda being run by the board right now. Previous folks don’t seem to be active.

Good ideas!

And signage will be key. I will admit I was a bit surprised at the mid-winter start, and now I almost never see any work being done. I do wonder if some of the other supply shortages have affected the finish work. Or, maybe the storms caused serious road damage elsewhere that’s more imperative than our little back street.

I was just looking at booth rental in Canton for first Monday and found a pavilion that operates like an antique mall where you rent a space and they sell your stuff for you. It’s as cheap as $50/mo (6x12’) month to month with no sales commissions! Spaces can be split and subleased. Seems like a cheap way for a group of folks to get their stuff out there for sale.

Canton – ugh. I’d have to view the location before I’d do that. Granted, if they’re doing the pavilion, at least they don’t have to move around. I did Canton as a one-shot once, and discovered that’s not effective. If you’re not a regular, you get the worst spaces. And, it was June, so it wasn’t well attended. I and the friends I was with barely covered our booth fees. Plus, every hotel for miles had tripled their rates due to the traffic.

I would be sure to go the month beforehand to check the traffic. Now, if you’re planning on doing it regularly, one month’s traffic isn’t all that relevant.

I’m not good at finding new, good shows, but I’m full of info about bad choices!

I would be happy to be part of a group planning our fail Beth is done it for several years. The one thing I do and it’s sort of links back to is that is that a date you’re already full and some are even moving around there are shows that normally were held in the spring that are being held in the fall so it’s going to be a crowded calendar even though

The best weekend have already been taken by a bigger and more established shows and that some of us will participate in. I know that Thanksgiving weekend is considered a poor time but I think if we could tame it up with maybe tours in some areas or something kind of like our mini open house like a mini open house like we used to have people from out of town would bring in there company to do something other than go to a crowded mall we might have a more successful show them we thought we could. And we get to show off yeah I will say that’s a lot of work for a lot of people but we haven’t been able to have an open house for several years so something not that big but something got at least gay people on idea of what all is going on here and maybe some of those sisters can take the Makerspace movement back to their cities

I am willing to help wherever need be. I’m not sure that Thanksgiving week would be a good start to it as most people are already out holiday shopping at sales people do for the Friday sales.

I’m glad to help as long as I have a notice of when and where. I don’t mind helping run the booth, etc.

Good ideas! Definitely agree.

The best weekends have long been taken by multiple shows in this area like the weekend before Thanksgiving I believe there are times that there are at least three to four major craft art shows that weekend. And this year it’s we’ve already had one show move and then they managed to conflict with another show that we do headed to the Baltimore shows we like to do

People will have done a lot of shopping we can’t help that because otherwise we would need to have the show in early October Maybe an actor for a lot of people start thinking November is very crowded. A lot of people have left the weekend after Thanksgiving open because of Black Friday and people hitting the malls I wonder if people will be hitting them all just heavily this year. And I expect this year to be a year where a lot of people have company in since a lot of them didn’t get that Thanksgiving with family last year maybe it’s just me but if I had roads are 10 from out of I really wouldn’t want to take them to a coming to the largest member operated Makerspace in the US would be anything to do and people could fill in those gaps in their shopping the only other halfway decent weekend would be the first weekend in December and well I object to that one because we cuz we have several members that will be doing a show in Arkansas that weekend they not that weekend years and years ago.

Not sure what you mean by “run the booth”. Traditionally, each maker has their own table.

Cairenn – as I see it, you personally have 2 choices. You can let your voice recognition program mangle your words, and we’ll all cheerfully ignore you because it’s too much work to figure out your actual meaning. Or, you can do the hard work and fix it so that it’s actually legible.

Oh, ok. I understand. Sorry. Wasn’t aware of how things worked.
