Heard Museum fossil lab looking for help

A note from a freind associated with the Heard Museum:

“Do you or someone you know, have the ability to scan/photograph something like a fossil and to create a 3D rendering on video? Does this make sense? I have no idea but I’m guessing like a CAD program does this? The Heard Museum fossil lab is looking for something like this… Cheap to free of course so it would be a charitable project.”

I would think this would be a great use of the 3d scanner. It can turn most any object into a 3d model that could then be manipulated, printed, or rendered.
