I visited the electronics room this Tuesday night to survey our selection of donated parts when a strong smell overwhelmed me. The entire space(front entrance lobby, hallways, electronics room, and snack room) smelled of strong chemicals. Have we recently been fumigating? Should I be worried about this smell?

Those odors were coming from the workshop last night. I couldn’t tell if someone had been using the laser without having the fans/exhaust turned on and/or if someone was using some sort of lacquer (or other very strong chemical). At any rate, it was strongest near the auto/laser area, so I suspect one or both of the above to be the ‘culprit’. If it happens again, please feel free to ask members causing the odor to ventilate their area better - including ‘temporarily’ opening the bay doors just long enough to thin out the odor, if needed. (Just don’t forget to make sure they get closed ASAP once the odor starts clearing out… Thansk!

Thank you for that feedback. I will ask the owner of that odor to get ventilation going if I encounter it again.
This week I saw someone using fiberglass resin in the workshop without any ventilation. The smell was overpowering.
