I consider myself to be more of casual observer. As we move into the winter months I generally get more interested as Orion and other incredible constellations become visible. (Orion was high in the summer afternoon sky during the eclipse but we were not able to see it.)
Star Walk is an amazing mobile app to help understand what is or will be visible at specific times. I have thought that it might be interesting to offer a DMS class on Star Walk and what you can see in the metro area without special equipment. Planets, constellations, Iridium flashes, International Space Station and other satellites are often visible if you know where to look. Kids would be very welcome.
