Harbor Freight: Sidewalk Sale

I just received the latest mailer for Harbor Freight. They are having their Once A Year liquidation sale. So many items for free and prices have a huge discount. It might be a great idea for folks to keep an eye out for this mailer and maybe offer what they don’t want to the space for new equipment? Just a thought.

I know a lot of members at the 'Space don’t like using Harbor Freight tools; BUT, there are a lot of things that we purchase a lot of - almost like consumables - such as their digital calipers and such. Thanks for the head’s up!

H F tools are not the highest quality, but they will often for something you
want to try or that you will need once in a while, . Their rock tumbler has
a well known weak spot, the belt, some are fine some are trash, but hat a new belt is not expensive and
the tumbler us great fo using for hand made jewelry, We don t have to run it
for weeks at a time, they will work for years,

You need to know your tool and how you intend to use it

I bought a very nice set of lathe tools from The Traditional Woodworker. They were made in England. I didn’t want to learn how to sharpen these tools the hard way and ruin them so I went to HF and bought a cheap ($45) set of tools to learn on. They were on sale with a coupon I had.

They are HSS but not the highest quality tools. I’ve reground them for my own use. I’m practicing my sharpening skills with them. I use them to test out different grinds, too.

Like others have said, you have to know the tool and what you plan to use it for. In general though, I don’t shop there often. Their sidewalk sale does have some bargains occasionally though.

The HF set I was gifted (thanks @jeffbob) cuts surprisingly well.
