Today in PlasmaCAM class a student mentioned that Habitat for Humanity Restore sometimes has steel and other materials available in the building material section likely for a good price. I had not heard of this outlet from a respected 501(c)(3) organization but plan to check it out. Has anyone been there?
Used to haunt the one in Denton with a fair frequency.
I found many things I would LIKE to have used, but rarely actually purchased anything.
I was not in the market for steel at the time, so I did not make notes about it, or lack thereof.
Happy hunting!
The Restore Store in Plano is at the Southeast corner of Springcreek Parkway and Custer Road. Very clean store as they just moved into it several months ago. They used to be on Ave N in Plano.
Decades ago I used to volunteer at the Restore in Fort Worth.
The ReStore pricing depends on the manager - some are great and some are …
I would suggest that you call the stores and check There is one onf Forest on
North Dallas Their big store is on Hampton at Singleton I believe
They have new items as well as used ones, Builders will donte unused materials to them
Folks will donate things to Habitat for Humanity, that are not useful to them like fancy
chandliers, they go the store ant mone from them buys useful items
I’ll differ on that.
Fill the tank on the truck.
Fill a pocket with cash.
Go shoppin’.
Like garage salein’…
So THAT’s where they moved to! Used to be about a mile from my house and I couldn’t figure out where they went!
Go there weekly. As mentioned it just depends. Denton is a good one for larger items like bathtubs and cabinetry. Mckinney is where we have the most luck, especially for materials. Rowlett is sparse but has $hit tons of doors usually. Garland manager is insane and charges at or above retail for what he has in stock. Only made the Fort Worth store once so can’t say much about them in particular.
HAHA yep. We Estate sale in the morning and hit whatever Habitat is on the way home
