Bud has it right. that is what should have been done, and yes itâs going to get clogged and you just blow it out. The original design (by whoever) of going down to the table and using the tnuts was not a good idea. I havenât used a HAAS made plate, but we made a similar one at one place that had both tapped holes and pin alignment holes. the tapped holes were used for hold-down clamps and the pins for alighnment. It was a very accurate setup so long as you did not remove the plate.

yes, and I wouldnât be naive to think itâs not going to happen. there were enough holes and dings in the sub plate to show otherwise.
