Great source for wood

Found a great source for wood for bowls and other projects. Lloyd Plum at planomill.com (@Lloyd_Plum) custom cut up a pecan log and a sycamore log into 5" and 3.5" slabs for me. It’s hard to find thick wood at lumber yards and sawmills. Hard to see in the picture but the pecan has interesting grain and colors. The sycamore is spalted. He has a large stash of logs and his rates are very reasonable.

I’ve got a couple of weddings to go to this fall and I’ll cut up some for bowl blanks for a salad bowl set and I’ll put some in my solar kiln and process into lumber for a larger segmented salad bowl. I’ll finish the inside with safe for food contact epoxy.

Lloyd is a great guy and he actually gave a demonstration of his operation to a number of DMS folks. I second the recommendation.

Lloyd also has cnc services. He helps me with all of my large epoxy flattening and resawing of large burl pieces that wont fit on the laguna. Great guy and business!
