I’ve had some requests for dip glaze recipes used in recent classes/events/firings. Figured we could use an open thread for anyone that has something groovy to share. We can keep adding as we have sweet successes. I’ll try to add photos for reference for down the road when memory begins to fail us.
‘*’ denotes toxic ingredients, use PPE if mixing from dry. Food safety should be tested, I’m not going declare anything either way as it depends on the specific ingredients, what it may or may not be layered with, clay body used, etc.
Jen’s Juicy Fruit (v. Iron, Britt 177)
(@Liamluu)Standard Cone 6 Oxidation. Very runny, reacts with layered glazes
Nepheline Syenite 44.5

Whiting 10
Kaolin 9.1
Frit 3124 8.2
*Lithium Carbonate 8.2
Soda Ash 9.1
Rutile 5.5

Black Matte 1 (Britt 138) and Selsor Oribe (Britt 109)
Standard Cone 6 Oxidation. Both are very stable, do not move much, if at all. Black Matte 1 is a strong, opaque black. Oribe tends to craze attractively.

Standard Cone 6 Oxidation. Caution to not dip for too long, if glaze is too thick, flaking can occur. Do not touch pot after glazing. Can be layered over colored slips or different clay bodies to change effect.
