Glass slumping class? Glass fusing class now on Calendar

Could someone teach me how to slump glass into heart shapes? I recently saw some glass hearts and would like to make some. I’m happy to buy materials and molds, but need instructions and advice

Some examples -

I occasionally teach a glass bottle melting class, which would teach you the large kilns use, but unfortunately the kiln large enough for those classes has been out of order for a couple months, we are waiting on a part for the repair.

@dryad2b teaches more fusing classes, including one for the microwave kilns, which might work for you as small as those examples are.

@dryad2b does some with frit, fusing. @msmurray411 does bottle slumping.
Jerry does kiln carving classes but he doesn’t use talk so you need to watch the Calander

@J88 is Jerry’a handle……

We could do a class for fusing in molds. Would Thursday 3/27 at 7 pm work for you?

You should probably buy the heart molds. I’ve got one small one, but DMS doesn’t have any other heart molds that I remember offhand.

While we can do the class using the COE 96 frits that we currently have, you probably will want to buy your own for any production. Locally, we usually send people to Art Glass City in Lewisville. I don’t know if she currently has some heart molds in stock. She is a Bullseye dealer. You could also buy online. I’ve bought from Delphi before.

Thur 3/27 at 7:00pm will work for me. Tomorrow I will check the molds to see what we have in the space. I will make sure to have a “heart” mold for us to use.

Yes! March 27, 7pm works for me! I need to Google the vocab yall are using haha

Is there anything I should buy now, in prep for making more after this class? I was hoping to make at least a batch or 2 of them, giving them away as worry stones.

Don’t worry too much about the terminology, they will go over that in class and you’ll better know what you need. May just want to start with the heart mold, but if you’re fine with just learning the skill on a shape we have next week, you could get the mold later too.

I’ve entered the class. It should come up in about 72 hours, unless somebody bumps it up. I’ll let you know when it’s “live”.

I’ll try to get a picture of our molds tonight when I get to the Space. And a list of the colors we have. I’ve been trying to “use up” the COE 96 frit, since our convenient supplier sells COE 90, and you can’t mix the 2.
